18 hours left:
6:00 AM
The combined forces of the Militia,
Guardians and Dark Lords walked towards the Museum of Monsters. Suddenly,
Sheriff Jet Jaguar picked up a strange noise coming from some distance
away but towards their position. It soon became apparent to everyone the
sound was sort of a humming and buzzing, more obnoxious than scary.
Jet turned to Raptor and said, "I know
that sound..." She nodded. The party waited a couple minutes for the source
to come around and much to everyone's surprise (except Jet and Raptor,
who knew exactly what it was), a lone golf cart suddenly appeared and revved
its engine. Abdel still hung onto the support beam tightly.
"Hey, everyone!" Rado beamed. "Did you
miss us?"
"Shhh, get down!" urged Raptor. They
disembarked and hid in the ferns alongside the road as a group of Orcs
marched by, stopping short at the sight of the golf cart. A quarrel broke
out between the already quarrelsome Orcs on what to do with the newly discovered...
thing.
"Let's throw rocks at it," suggested
one with a heavy Middle Earth accent.
"Nooo," scoffed another. "Then the Roosties
shoot us wid their magic lighting."
"But we can hit 'em wid ours!" figured
another. The captain of the party had the final say and ended the debate
with a simple yet ludicrously unintelligent plan.
"Let's climb on top, jump on it and
when the Roosties come out, we shoot 'em!" This was met with whoops and
yells of pleasure at the thought of having some joyful enemy slaughtering.
As the soldiers clambered up and perched precariously on top, awaiting
the signal to fire, the Mods and Guardians held their sides to keep from
laughing at the hilarious sight. Rado fingered the Panic Button on his
key ring and a mental countdown started in the minds of the hidden group.
When they arrived at "One', the horn began beeping wildly. The startled
Orcs leapt up and danced around madly, trying to find cover on the small
roof area.
An over-assuming Abdel, still new to
technological advances, blurted out, "That's it! I was expecting some kind
of a magic lightning show, or armed horsemen to be summoned. What good
does that..." but was interrupted by Rado.
"Wait for it..." The entire surface
of the golf cart streaked with electricity and the spooked Orcs began dancing
anew, glowing with erratic bluish jolts. Fireballs began spewing from newly
opened chutes while spikes sprung from the front and sides as the cart
began rapidly spinning around in place, then running in a wide circle.
Any surviving Orcs quickly fled while the Mods and Guardians came forward,
laughing uncontrollably as they piled into the golf cart and sped off to
the Museum of Monsters.
"That WAS some magic lightning show!"
Abdel declared, wide eyed.
"Yeah, man! That is some 'magic' car
alarm," Rodan 2000 laughed.
After witnessing the humorous demise
of a small Orc garrison, the Utopian Guardians, were-Gojis, Dark Lords
and Mods continued their journey to the Museum of Monsters. The comic relief-ish
event had been a needed shot in the arm they all needed and another thing
worth fighting for.
"Well..." Sauron said grimly as a dark
misty fog rolled in. "Here we are, the Museum of Monsters..." He shuddered,
remembering his last visit there.
"Let's go..." Ubergeek insisted. The
group entered in single file with Ubergeek and Sauron in the lead. The
place was dark and empty with no lights on. Glass fronts of exhibits seemed
to reflect evil shapes that weren't there. It was as if they had entered
a haunted house that was abandoned for many years and there was an eerie
presence in the air.
"Well, Sauron, which way is it to that
secret room?" Morgoth asked.
"It's this way, under the basement floor..."
he replied. Sauron the great Dark Lord led his friends to the basement
doorway. The place felt more evil and Morgoth could sense a recognizable
presence. It was the same feeling he had when he performed the Black Mass...
the same evil he had sensed... Hellspawn's masters. Jet Jaguar went for
the basement door but it wouldn't open.
"What the..." He was sent flying back
as Mephistophelian appeared from out of the shadows.
"Kill them," the voice of Kronos ordered.
He quickly grabbed Rodan 2000 from the group.
"Does thou have any last words before
the untimely death of you and your wretched friends? Before the reckless
race of humanity is sent on its way to oblivion, forever?"
"Yeah. Eat this!" Rodan2000 bit at Mephistophelian's
face and the monster screamed in pain. Everyone knew as much as it hurt,
Mephisto enjoyed the pain... it was like pleasure to most people.
"For such a foolish attempt to stop
me, Mephistophelian the Conqueror, you shall be the first to face your
doom... in front of your friends..." There was rage in Yuri Manda's eyes
and she couldn't help what happened next.
"No! Rodan!" she cried as she tried
to stop Mephistophelian.
"What's this? A female seeking her mate?
Ha! The two of you shall die together..." With what little he had left
in him, Melkor cast a spell on Mephistophelian that would last only 30
minutes at the most but he couldn't hurt anyone without destroying himself.
As much as he enjoyed pain, he wanted to live to claim his vengeance.
"Melkor... you'll be mine... shortly."
Mephistophelian vanished and became a blackish-purple mist of energy that
flew under the door into the basement.
"This world is ours... Nothing can prevent
that now..." The voice of Kronos whispered to those standing in his way.
Mephistophelian had entered the room Sauron spoke of, which was a gateway
to bridge all universes, the Universal Bridge. It was a large square shaped
room and the walls were very old, much older than the Earth itself, covered
with a language that was a cross between many, if not all the ancient languages
of Earth; Egyptian, and Aztec, Latin and Greek.
"Now with such power at my disposal...
nothing can stop the rage of vengeance. It is unavoidable now..." Ubergeek
had led the gang out of the Museum when he sensed something bad was going
to happen. As they got outside, there was a loud noise, like a bomb going
off. Bursting from the Museum came a large, very primitive alien-like flying
saucer made of stone.
Melkor, barely sane, looked up and read:
When the three spike backs fight
and the space demon comes, thus begins the Shadow of the Apocalypse.
When the King Dark Lord is replaced
and the Lord is killed, the Shadow of the Apocalypse will arise.
When the two black dragons rise and
the Blue King is let loose, the Shadow of the Apocalypse will come.
When the Guardian Leader falls and
the Lady is sacrificed, the Shadow of the Apocalypse will fall back.
When the Dark Ages have fallen and
the island is cleared, the Shadow of the Apocalypse will return.
When the island is left and the people
scatter, the Shadow of the Apocalypse will strengthen.
If the island is destroyed and the
people lose hope, the Shadow of the Apocalypse will win.
But if the people unite and their
hope is forever, the Lord and the Lady will be united and the light will
pour forth and Shadow of the Apocalypse will die.
Thus is the Prophecy of Roostville.
Rodan 2000 gave him a funny look, as
did Ubergeek. "What, Melkor?"
Uber asked.
"The Prophecy of Roostville... is written...
on each side of that... device." Miyako Aso and her were-Gojis, who were
in humanoid form, powered up. The Utopian Guardians also did for Mephistophelian
was now in possession of a device that could bridge and destroy all Universes.
He stood in the center of the single
stone room of the flying saucer. There were no devices, no nothing but
a floor, ceiling and four walls, all with ancient writings that told how
to operate the weapon and related the legend of Roostville's prophecy.
The ship was older than the Earth itself, yet was far more advanced than
anything built or constructed in the modern world by such geniuses as Dr.
Sandworm Phish. Kronos, speaking the ancient languages written on the ship,
was able to guide Mephistophelian to controlling its power. An average
human who only used 10% of their brain would not have the power to do so
but someone who can put their brain to its full potential could control
such a device. Even so, Mephistophelian had wondered about the ship and
its origins but failed to ask his master. He used his mind to control the
ship. On the outside, a dent appeared in the side in the shape of his face
and miraculously, the stone moved.
"Welcome to the worst nightmare of all...
reality!" Mephistophelian said to his enemies who longed to destroy him.
"I hath taken possession of this wondrous weapon... an invention I thought
could only be conceived in fantasies and imagination. But now, I see such
things are real. And with it, I can summon up enough power to conquer any
world that threatens my existence." Morgoth stared at the flying saucer
and there were all kinds of symbols he recognized. Some of it he could
read and it said what Melkor had told them, the Prophecy of Roostville.
There were also symbols and markings that were completely alien to him
in unfamiliar languages but he noticed the heads of Easter Island and the
Stonehenge of England up there. This only made him wonder even more if
his suspicions were correct...
"Your time is over, puny humans! You
shall face the destruction of your breed... and soon... And as you die,
so shall Apocalypse the Hellspawn be reborn." The flying saucer then disappeared
into a time or dimension warp of some sort. There was an eerie feeling
amongst the crowd. Mephistophelian had left but evil was still around and
blood could be smelt in the air.
"Blasted! God damnit! This can't be
happening!" Ubergeek screamed as he turned back to humanoid form and fell
to his knees. "With that ship at his disposal... nothing stands a chance
against his mighty wrath! I'll be damned if I even get a shot at killing
the bloody bastard!" Anger raged in his voice but Morgoth was the only
one who was not worried. There was something familiar about the primitive
looking inter-dimensional craft.
"I wonder..." he said out loud to himself,
catching everyone's attention.
"Wonder what?" Yuri Manda asked him.
"Well," Morgoth said. "As I stared upon
the space craft... I found different Earth languages all over it, repeating
the same thing... As if it was made for intergalactic contact... But one
side had a language completely unknown to me..." He paused. "As I recall,
some of the markings or symbols feature Earth landmarks... such as Stonehenge,
Easter Island heads, crop circles and other unnatural stuff... But the
rest of the language and what it meant or said is alien to me..." Manda
was he most intrigued by this.
"Any ways," Morgoth continued. "I begin
to piece together what the writing may have meant or said... At first,
my suspicions had me guessing that this was a Mayan Space Shuttle but the
more I guessed and thought about it, I was soon able to read and understand
some of the language..." His mind became filled with uneasy flashbacks
to his unsettling past of horrors, such as his friend and the Black Mass;
the Hauntings he witnessed and other strange stuff...
"Well?" Saruman asked. "Is that all?"
"No, there's more," Morgoth continued.
"In my youth I, along with six others who I hadn't known, were abducted...
by beings from beyond this star system... The markings on Mephisto's craft
reminded me of a blocked memory... this abduction. I recalled seeing some
of the same symbols... What was done to me by the aliens, I don't recall...
But I have figured out what that Universal Bridge craft was designed for..."
"But how do you know?" Miyako Aso wondered.
"I... found a sort of space helmet plugged
into the wall. When I placed it on my head, my mind was filled with information
that no human brain could ever wish to hold or understand. What I learned
was rather... shocking..."
"And that was?" Rodan 2000 asked...
"The Universal Bridge... the inter-dimensional
space craft was built by a highly advanced civilization from the stars...
From a universe much like ours that was destroyed by war... That ship was
hidden here in Roostville by three aliens that our species has come to
know as one being.... God..."
"So," Jet Jaguar figured. "Now all we
have to do is wonder how will Mephistophelian use God's transportation
device as a means to enslave and destroy all humanity."
7 PM
"Taste my pleasures...
taste the pleasures of a molester... You enjoy the abuse of others just
as I have for thousands of years... Oh, how I long to rape and watch in
pleasure as your hate feeds me.... hahahahaha!"
The voice of Apocalypse
had spoken to Ubergeek in a dream and he had awoken in a cold sweat, just
as Melkor did from his nightmares of Hellspawn.
"Do not look to
the east, for I shall return when the red moon sets and sun rises in the
west," the voice said before he had awoken. "Mephistophelian, Hellspawn
and the Blue Devil will all fuel me with the power of sadism to make you
suffer a thousand times, over again and again!" The dreaded voice of the
most perverted demon ever had terrified him. As he awoke from his slumber,
he glanced over at Miyako next to him.
Only 5 hours
left, he had said, until all are Apocalypse. It had been hours since
Mephistophelian had escaped with the Universal Bridge and there was no
sign of any evil in the area and no word from the other side. The Dark
Lords had arranged for the citizens of Roostville remain in Monsterzeroville
as a security precaution. Only the Utopian Guardians, were-Gojis and Mods
were allowed into the city. Ubergeek came to pay a visit to Saruman, the
Dark Lord who was handling the arrangements.
"Only five hours
left," he said as he entered Saruman's temporary office. "Until Mephistophelian
releases his master plan and Melkor is turned to the Dark Side. Has there
been any word from Desutoroia?" He only glanced at Uber and pondered his
answer.
"No. There has
been no word, or no sign of Desutoroia. It's as if he no longer existed..."
"And what of the
Roostville Dome?"
"I am sorry, Ubergeek.
It's gone... The Universal Bridge, hovering over the town... It took the
Roostville Dome with it..."
"Great. It's most
likely being used as a torture place as Melkor had seen, or it's being
used to..."
"Breed an army?
Yes, Uber... you may be right."
"Then, we must
act now! There must be something we can do..."
"I am sorry...
There is nothing we can do at the moment... except sit here and wait..."
Ubergeek left the Dark Lord's presence rather angry.
*****
Deep within the
Earth's molten core where the Universal Bridge had been hiding, Mephistophelian
spoke to his master.
"And when the
sun and the moon are lined with the Earth and the rest of the solar system,
the eggs of the Black Fire Rodan will have hatched and released our...
new breed of Rodans who will feast upon this world... and tear it to pieces."
He was pleased with his work.
"And once that
is done," the voice of his master said, "the Universal Bridge will be used
as a pathway to bridge all realities to this one. And the Dome will have
been put to use for a great cause." Mephistophelian smiled.
"It is too late
for them to resist us! The Earth and all it's elements are ours. Desire
will have been experienced to its limit and beyond. In a short 4 hours
and 47 minutes, all chaos breaks loose as gloom is wrapped about this
world."

As Yuri Manda
got out of the shower back in Roostville, there was a knock at her door.
"Who is it?" she
called.
"R2k comes bearing
gifts."
"Just a minute,"
she said as she grabbed a shirt and a pair of jeans. She opened the door
and stared into Rodan 2000's eyes and he gazed back. There was an obvious
attraction going on here.
"Would you come
in?" she asked him.
"Sure." He was
dressed in a tux and presented flowers he had be hiding behind his back.
"Oh, thank you!
How considerate," she joyfully exclaimed.
"Come," he said.
"Have dinner with me. I know a fine place downtown where Desu and Princess
first dated. We'll have the luxury of not being disturbed by any one as
no one's here except the Dark Lords and such."
"At a time like
this?"
"Yes," Rodan 2000
said, with sadness in his eyes. "This may be the last chance any of us
have to ever be with someone... before the end..." For once, he was very
serious. The two of them walked off holding hands.
8 PM
"Only four
hours left," RadoGoji stated, staring off into the distance.
"That's what Geekspawn
says." Abdel could only think of the Universal Bridge. "We need to use
it."
"What?" Rado asked
him.
"The Universal
Bridge," Abdel replied. "We must use it to go to Faerun. Only then will
we find the Berserker Two Handed Sword +5 and only then may we reunite
again."
"Why do we have
to go to Faerun to get it?" Rado asked.
"If we don't,
I will never regain full power," Abdel explained. "We must not let Mephisto
do God knows what with it. If he does, all of the universes, even this
one, could be destroyed."
"This world's
going down in four hours, anyway!" Rado declared. "If that's the way it's
supposed to be, then let it go! The prophesy even said so! If the island
is destroyed and the people lose hope, the Shadow of the Apocalypse will
win! It's set in stone! This place is gone in four hours and nobody here
has the power to stop your freakin' brother from doing whatever he wants!
That's it. We're screwed! Game over. The end! Let it go..." Abdel punched
Rado square in the face. "You are not RadoGoji!" he yelled. "You are merely
pretending to be him! The real RadoGoji wouldn't give up hope like that!"
"The real RadoGoji
just did!" he shouted. "Quit lying to yourself, Abdel! We're all going
to die! Can't you see that? That's why you were a paladin and not a mage!
Your intelligence isn't high enough to get the obvious things through your
thick skull!" Abdel punched him again, this time gaining the attention
of Sheriff Jaguar who broke up the fight.
"OK, you two!
Break it up! Rado and, uh... other Rado. We're trying to come up with a
plan here and you two are fighting! Well, I won't have it!"
"Indeed!" Abdel
said. "It is foolish to waste my energy on a coward such as RadoGoji!"
"Yeah," Jet said.
"Other Rado is right. I, uh, I think..."
"My name is Abdel,"
he said. "I refuse to be named for such a sniveling whelp. In fact, I am
ashamed to be reborn as such a person, abandoning his own home world. I
thought Minsc had taught you better, RadoGoji. I thought wrong." He angrily
walked off.
"He's... right,"
Rado declared. "I'm not cut out for this. I'm just a coward. I should have
never left Mecha City."
"You come from
Mecha City?" Jet asked.
"Yeah," he replied.
"I left to start a life on my own. Of all the places I picked, it had to
be Roostville. And of all the people I first met, it had to be Minsc. If
I hadn't met him, I would never have gotten involved and this whole Abdel
thing wouldn't have happened to me." His eyes started filling with tears
as he took off his RMB vest and gave it to Jet Jaguar. "Here. Give it to
someone who cares."
"I think you do
care," Jet told him as Rado started to walk off. "Life may not deal out
what you want but you gotta deal with what it gives you. Take the vest
back. You just need some time to think this through."
"I only have four
hours worth," Rado sighed. "After that, we'll all be dead."
"Not if we pull
this through," Jet said. "This Mephisto may have the power to destroy this
planet but he's only one guy and he's not invincible. We'll find a way
and I think we'll live more than four hours but we need your help."
"Alright," Rado
agreed. "I'll try to help."
"See? You didn't
need more than four hours to think that out, did you?" Jet informed him.
"I guess not,"
Rado figured. "Now, I gotta find Abdel." Jet intended to talk with the
other Mods. "You do that, Rado."
"Hey, Sheriff!"
Rado called as he turned to leave. "Thanks..."

At the empty Most
Romantic Hotel in Roostville, Rodan 2000 and Yuri Manda were having dinner.
There was buffet laid out and Rodan had fried a few omelets. They sat at
a table in the reserved section, complete with singing robot and band.
The evening was going well, even though they both knew in the back of their
minds they had less than four hours to live this experience. Rodan 2000
suddenly fell to the floor with an agonized roar.
"Ehhh," he moaned.
"What do you want from me, Mephistophelian?"
"Hahaha!" yelled
the voice in his head. "You, my servant? What would I want FROM you? I
want nothing but to cause you pain and you to like it! HAHAHA!"
"You can't do
this to me! I WONT LET YOU!" he yelled as his mind shut to the evil of
Mephistophelian and he laid still on the ground.
"Rodan 2000? What
is it? Are you all right?" asked Yuri anxiously. He was silent. "Rodan?"
she asked again but he didn't move as she caressed his leathery skin. "Oh,
Rodan 2000! Why? Why?" she began to cry. A tear hit his beaked face and
his eyes opened slowly. He looked up at her.
"Don't cry, Yuri.
Everything will be all right. I don't know how, but I feel that it will
be. I promise." He whispered into her ear as they embraced and remained
locked in a hug, holding each other in their love for each other. A shudder
ran through Rodan 2000 and he raised his head from her shoulder.
"I know what Mephisto's
plan is," he whispered.
"What?" Yuri asked.
"I know what he
has in the eggs. And where they are. I know it." He began laughing.
"You mean, we
can find them? We can destroy the eggs?" she asked.
"Yes! I know what
it is. He's creating an army of cyborg Black Fire Rodans from the eggs,
to wipe out all life. They're at... they're at... they're at the University.
Yes, the University of Kaijuology. He has them in the dorm rooms."
"Then let's go
tell the others! We can stop this whole thing! Let's hurry!" she exclaimed.
They ran out as she turned into her Phoenix form and they flew off in search
of the others.
Ubergeek had met
up with the Mods and Guardians and had been discussing what to do next,
not knowing what was in the eggs they were looking for. All they did know
was that if they didn't find and probably, destroy them, the world would
meet its end. Rodan 2000 and Yuri arrived and he quickly explained what
he had just discovered.
"Well, what are
we waiting for? Let's go!" Morgoth shouted. The Utopian Guardians headed
for the University of Kaijuology.
10 PM
The Militia and
Dark Lords regrouped to discuss a final plan of action and how to save
Melkor's life.
"Desu," Rodan
2000 said as Desutoroia walked up. "You... you know the Light Blast, the
ancient practice. You showed it to me and Godzilla Guy and Kiryu Goji...
It is the only thing that can save Melkor..." Desutoroia put his hand on
his friend's shoulder.
"I'll see what
I can do..." After moments of anticipation, Desutoroia walked to where
Melkor laid suffering from the Soul Reaper's curse. Melkor revived and
everyone was joyous.
"Now, what do
we do?" Rodan 2000 asked.
"We must prepare
to fight 'til the end... 'til death..." Saruman said, "or everything we
have worked for will be ruined..."
The Utopian Guardians,
Desutoroia, the Militia and Dark Lords soon reached the entrance to the
city of Roostville. Rodan 2000 had stayed by Yuri's side the whole time
and they clinged to each other. Desutoroia wondered how he could actually
go up against one of his friends in battle and fight against an ally but
he knew it was something that he had to do. Desu remembered what Hellspawn
had told him once...
"Our destinies
will have us fight again side by side one last time..." Desutoroia hadn't
realized what it meant until the LaMent Configuration summoned him to Earth
to collect souls worthy for Leviathan. What hurt him the most was remembering
the night that changed his life forever - the death of his wife, the Princess
of Space.
"Saddle up!" Ubergeek
called out. "Two hours 'til Apocalypse!"
"The Roostville
Dome was supposed to achieve peace," Morgoth declared. "Now look at it."
He pointed to the empty space where the Godzilla Tower used to stand. "It's
trapped in some alternate universe, under Mephistophelian's control, performing
the seeds of evil."
"Well," Desutoroia
replied, "I am all for fighting to the bitter end as I have nothing left
to fight for... nothing left to lose."
"We have to fight,"
Yuri explained, "for Adora's sake... To free her and others from Mephistophelian's
influence." A tear ran down her face.
*****
The sight the
Utopian Guardians beheld at the University of Kaijuology was as grim as
any they had seen in the empty ghost town that was now Roostville. It filled
their hearts with fear, pain and suffering beyond limits. There was a feeling
of regret in the air as thick fog started to roll in.
"How convenient,"
Ubergeek growled. Through the fog and straight ahead, two glowing red eyes
could be seen and to the left was a large circular object with glowing
yellow eyes. To the right was the form of a bald man with a long neck and
glowing green eyes. Demonic laughter could be heard all around as a shape
fell through the fog in front of them. It was Desutoroia and as he lay
on the ground, the fog, eyes and laughter disappeared. The air cleared
and the night sky was as beautiful as ever. Ubergeek was in his humanoid
form and ran to him.
"Desu? What happened?"
he asked. There was no answer. He appeared to be dead but soon came to.
"Where am I? How
did I get here?" Desutoroia asked, startled at seeing the Guardians in
beast form. Ubergeek explained everything to him but Desu hadn't a clue
as to how he got there.
"Is there anything
you remember?"
"Only a little,"
Desutoroia replied. "You, me and Melkor had gotten into Roostville and
Hellspawn was there... But it wasn't him... We escaped back to Monsterzeroville
where I spent the night at a motel until Raptor came. Then I was driving
my car up the mountains and was suddenly here..." Ubergeek faced the Guardians.
"Today," he said,
"right now. We shall go and destroy the cyborg eggs and stop Mephistophelian's
plans once and for all... To the University of Kaijuology we go!"
"No!" Desu shouted,
grabbing Ubergeek's arm when they reached the darkened campus.
"What is it?"
he asked.
"We can't... we
mustn't go in there... It's evil... full of evil. I know it... I can feel
it." Desutoroia was acting rather strangely, trying to stop Ubergeek from
going in when he got shot in the side. He screamed in agony in a voice
that wasn't his. Everyone looked to see who had fired at him, only to find
Desutoroia standing behind the Guardians!
"We are friends..."
said the Desutoroia who had been hit by the bullet.
"Yes, that is
true but I can't let my friend kill my other friend now, can I?" Everyone
had caught on that the Desutoroia with the gun was for real as the wounded
one turned into Mephistophelian. Before Ubergeek could attempt to kill
him, he disappeared. The Universal Bridge appeared in the sky and flew
off.
"Hahahahaha!"
Mephistophelian laughed. "My hybrid Rodans have been saved. My mission
is almost complete... It won't be long now 'til vengeance is mine!"
Rodan 2000 sniffed
the air. The moon was at its peak, yet there were clouds beginning to darken
the skies and his mood.
"Do you really
think you can stop me?" yelled the voice of Mephistophelian, though he
was nowhere in sight. "I shant be denied my destiny!"
"Show yourself,
monster!" Ubergeek yelled.
"Take a look for
yourself! I'm right here. He he he!" he laughed again from the University.
"Come inside. I'll make you a deal. I'll let you all come in and we'll
have a fair fight. I promise not to use my new Universal Bridge. You have
my word. Come in and see what good it does you with four minutes left!
Hahaha!" he whispered to those present who still could not see him.
"Well, you hear
that? CHARGE!" yelled Ubergeek. Everyone came rushing inside the building
where there were hundreds of eggs laying about.
"Me, Melkor and
Desu will fight Mephisto. The rest of you, destroy the eggs," Ubergeek
instructed.
Mephisto appeared
and floated down near the door.
"Come on, you
three. Let's take this outside!" he yelled to them and ran out. Melkor,
Uber and Desu followed him as the rest tried to activate some bombs they
had brought. They hoped they had enough time.
"NO!" Abdel yelled.
"I am coming also! I will make my brother pay for what he has done!"
Having flown around
the area searching for something to attack, Aqualla spotted the fight about
to begin and dived down, talons outstretched, eyes glowing and plumage
shimmering. As he neared, he unleashed a loud, high-pitched shriek. With
that, he landed and turned to fight the nearest humanoid being. It was
Desutoroia he saw first but there was something in him that when he saw
Mephisto, it turned his eagle heart against no one but the ancient conqueror.
He screeched with an eagle-like roar and ice spheres grew in his hands.
Throwing the icy blasts at the demonic monster, Mephisto saw his hand freeze
and felt the pain of having the blood in his veins become solid. He liked
it.
"Hahaha! he yelled
triumphantly. Aqualla screeched again and charged. The others had paused
when he first arrived and charged with him, backing up the warrior eagle
and his unbeatable spirit. No matter how much he hated the humans and anyone
who aided them, his hate for the evil thing called Mephistophelian was
far greater than anyone's, except Desu's. Desu stopped his charge for a
brief second, thinking deep inward thoughts about the battle around him.
What was he doing, fighting his best friend in the world. Not only was
he his friend but he was also unbeatable. Whatever he did, unless it was
give in, it was a no-win situation for him. If they won the battle, he
lost a friend and if they lost, he still lost a friend, just for fighting
against him.
"Hahaha!" Mephisto
laughed again. "Melkor! I shall not be denied my destiny now, will I? Come
and let me show you the path to Hell!"
Desu's eyes snapped
open. The real Hozay wouldn't have said anything like that. The demon's
desire to wreak vengeance upon Melkor and Ubergeek alike was never something
of his former friend's concern. He was always doing the best for others,
always fighting for what was right. Mephisto inviting someone to die at
his own hands made him realize how his friend had changed. He was not being
his friend and no longer Hozay. It was Mephistophelian the Conqueror, the
monster, the enemy. With an earth shaking battle cry, Desu charged after
the others with one thought on his mind: DEFEATING THE ENEMY!
11:58 PM
Those inside were having trouble with
the bombs. The wiring had been messed up on the master bomb, the one they
needed to set. If they could set it, all they had to do was place the others.
They were useless unless they were all wired together.
"We'll never set them all in time! We
could do it in about seven minutes with us all but not in two!" Gamingboy
was exasperated.
"What if we just set one? Wouldn't it
cause the others to explode also?" asked Rodan 2000.
"No, the egg shells are extremely thick
and we need all the bombs right by a group of eggs. Having them all close
enough to start a chain reaction would mean half the eggs wouldn't be destroyed,"
explained Raptor. "What if we set them to explode about two or three seconds
after they hatch? Would that be enough firepower to destroy them as they
hatched?" There was a silence as they looked up and smiled. "Come to think
of it, if we place a few set ones here and there, that might work... Let's
do it!" Raptor shouted. Yuri leaned over and kissed Rodan 2000 and he smiled
broadly. They set a few bombs and placed them strategically throughout
the building, which had been hollowed out by the Orcs to make room for
all the eggs.
"Wait!" Raptor called. "We need someone
to place a few on the roof, to make it collapse and crush any that survive
the explosion, just in case. Rodan 2000, will you do that?"
"Yes, ma'am!" He snatched up a few set
bombs and put them on the roof.
He quickly flew back down and asked,
"Is everything ready?"
"Yep. They're set to go off in about
one minute 45 seconds. Now, everybody: RUN!!!" The whole brigade ran like
heck out of the building, leaving behind the combatants, the eggs and the
bombs. They ran as fast as they could. Rodan 2000 checked the time on his
pre-set claw watch: 1 minute and 20 seconds.
Raptor called out to Desutoroia. "The
place is gonna blow in about a minute!"
"Break off the battle" yelled Ubergeek.
"My eggs!" Mephisto yelled in surprise
and fury. "My eggs! I must get them!" He ran into the now deadly building.
"NO!" yelled Desu as he watched the
man, the monster, run inside. He began to run after him but Melkor grabbed
his arm.
"He's gone, Desu. Leave him." They ran
away as fast as they could.
-40 seconds-
They were about 20 yards away but kept
going.
-30 seconds-
30 yards away.
-25-
They ran on.
-20-
Mephisto was inside, looking all around
for the bombs but he saw nothing but the eggs. He roared with anger at
being tricked like this. He stepped out the door.
"Melkor! This isn't over. Ready or not,
here I come!"
-10-
A beep inside alerted Mephisto to something
behind him.
-9-
He turned around
-8-
and scanned the area.
-7-
He saw nothing but kept searching.
-6-
He narrowed his eyes and sniffed the
air.
-5-
Another beep, this time louder.
-4-
Another beep and a glow on the floor.
-3-
Another beep and more read-outs flashed.
-2-
The bombs. Many of them. Mephisto's
eyes widened.
-1-
"An illusion spell! Clever, brother."
-0-
The heroes had no time to look behind
them and see the explosive cloud that told of their midnight victory. They
just kept running, fire racing up behind them, and fast. The heat nearly
scalded them as the flames rushed after them but they made it. Soon, the
flames retreated back to the building and the group sat down to rest and
watch the inferno.

A new day dawns: 12:01 AM
"Desu lives. You die!" The voice of
Mephistophelian spoke. Ubergeek charged at the beast in his humanoid form
but the demon had vanished. From the far off Church of Roostville, the
Universal Bridge appeared, the ancient texts and transcripts shining as
bright as gold in the night sky as the clouds darkened above. The air went
from warm to freezing. The Universal Bridge hovered above the city, rotating
but remaining in the same spot. Electricity shot at the ground and deep
into outer space. Melkor looked up at it. He and the others; Rodan 2000,
Ubergeek, Yuri Manda, Ancalagon, Catbert, Raptor, Jet Jaguar, the Dark
Lords and even Desutoroia saw the brightness. It was almost a thing of
beauty and harmony but knowing what it really was saddened each and every
heart of those who beheld its hypnotic trance. Even the monstrous Aqualla
stared in amazement but that ended rather quickly when a strange buzzing,
far in the distance, could be heard. The closer the noise got, the clearer
it sounded; more like the mechanized cries of Rodans. From a large tunnel
beneath where the Universal Bridge levitated came a swarm of Hybrid Cyborg
offspring of the Black Fire Rodan, Adora. Yuri was the most frightful of
the mechanical beasts, the horrible machinations that had come about through
Mephisto and the dreaded Council's abuse and mutilation...
"Move!" Desutoroia shouted as he pushed
Melkor to the ground. As they fell, a Cyborg Rodan flew past, nearly killing
them. The spawn of the Black Fire Rodan then began to attack buildings
and people. The Guardians and Dark Lords fought back to shield and protect
their friends. Aqualla, on the verge of going out of control, hunted down
as many Cyborg Rodans as he could, flying and blasting about. On the side
of the Universal Bridge, the face of Mephistophelian the Conqueror was
carved and the stone could move. The eyes on Mephistophelian's rock face
shined a bright aura of green as death was upon the living world of man.
"When the Guardian leader falls and
the Lady is sacrificed, the Shadow of Apocalypse will fall back. When the
Dark Ages hath fallen and the island is cleared, the Shadow of Apocalypse
will return. When the island is left and the people scatter, the Shadow
of Apocalypse will strengthen. If the island is destroyed and the people
lose hope, the Shadow of Apocalypse will win. Thus is the Prophecy of Roostville."
Mephistophelian recited in a cold, emotionless voice as his enemies battled
against the rage of the Cyborg Rodans. They decimated all in sight. Yuri
Manda stayed by Rodan 2000's side as Catbert blasted them with his eye-beam.
Melkor, with the Sword of Middle Earth, swung at many foes, striking down
the Rodans that plagued his path to victory but all hope seemed lost. The
swarms continued, more and more just kept coming from everywhere. As Melkor
looked at his companions, he could see in their eyes they were slowly loosing
hope.
"If the people lose hope, the Shadow
of Apocalypse will win..." he muttered under his breath as a Cyborg Rodan
dove at his head. The agile Dark Lord countered and struck the beast with
his sword. Ubergeek, Miyako and her were-Goji gang had cornered a group
of them but it proved a futile effort. They could not hold off these monsters
forever and sooner or later, Mephistophelian would arise from his space
craft as the victor of the great war that took this land from the Roostafarians
forever.
"Death is only the beginning," Mephistophelian
boomed. "The road to immortality... whether Heaven or Hell. And forever
is a long time coming..." He was proud now, even if he couldn't be there,
vengeance on those who destroyed Apocalypse was unavoidable and very soon,
Mephisto would travel to Hell and make sure Afiag suffered the most for
Apocalypse's defeat. He destroyed a powerful being... someone that Mephisto
thought of as more than an equal.
"The wise men can see all that wild
men, grave men and poor man could only wish to identify. They know when
to give up and when fighting is worth it," Mephistophelian said. Wise men
could except Death but the Roostafarians could not. This only sickened
him, for as long as they were in his way, his lusts could never be accomplished.
Desutoroia shot at as many Cyborg Rodans that came his way but no matter
how evil Mephisto's plans were, Desutoroia knew his friend was still inside
him and might someday be reawakened. He knew he had to fight until his
friend could be restored. As a Rodan nearly cut his head from his shoulders,
he could see Princess of Space's face, the beauty of her... and wished
that she could be here to help him through these times. Without her love
was merely a word without meaning.
He then fired at the space craft and
shouted, "I may have lost my wife forever but I will not lose you, old
friend! This world will not end in war!" The greatness of his heart caused
a reaction in the unbalance of the world that sought rectifying and a bright
light shined upon Roostville. A silhouette of a woman could be seen and
when the light disappeared, there stood the Princess of Space, Mrs. Khandejifer.
Desutoroia looked at her with joy as
a voice within him spoke, "The Gods have allowed me to return, just as
you did, to stop Hellspawn when you were dead. Once Mephistophelian is
gone, so shall I fade from this life into the next forever..." Ubergeek
saw her and was shocked.
"She returns to help defeat Mephisto.
Once he is gone, she will disappear as well," Melkor explained. "Just like
when Desu came back to help me defeat Hellspawn when he escaped from prison
and..." He remembered that it was his blood that made Hellspawn a demon
and couldn't finish what he was about to say. As the Princess of Space
looked up at the alien ship, the face of Mephistophelian looked back at
her with compassion is its eyes.
"Princess," he said, glad to see her,
"I am happy for your return. Hellspawn mourned your death."
"Maybe he did," she replied, "but I
am here to stop you for all the evil you are causing in this world!" She
then sprouted angel wings that spread wide and her beauty was that of a
true angel. There was love again in Desutoroia's eyes as she flew at the
craft but rising from the ground came the Black Fire Rodan who stood in
her way.
"Adora!" Yuri called out as the Princess
closed her eyes and began to mumble. From behind her came the true
Rodan. The massive creature looked at his female counterpart and the two
prepared to fight for dominance as Princess flew into the alien space craft
through the carved mouth of Mephistophelian, passing through the stone.
The vessel began to fly around as if its controller had been drained of
his powers. The Face of Mephisto reshaped itself. Inside, energy surged
through the stone as if there was a mechanical problem and circuits were
about to explode.
Below, the Princess was reunited with
Desutoroia and they held hands, looking at the Universal Bridge. The Cyborg
Rodans were fleeing but the Black Fire Rodan battled Rodan, both blasting
and clawing at each other. There was no escape from the colossal battle.
Meanwhile, the circuits within the stone ship went haywire, causing destruction
and explosions inside the Universal Bridge.
Mephistophelian was consumed by the
energy as the alien space craft, with him in it, was thrown through time
and space into an alternate universe. At that moment, the Black Fire Rodan
fell to the ground as Adora, now free from Mephistophelian. The original
Rodan disappeared and the Cyborgs went with Mephisto.
The goodness prevailing caused Aqualla
to temporarily be free from whatever was taking control of him but it was
still there, waiting for another moment to strike. Yuri and Rodan 2000
came to Adora's aid as Ubergeek and Morgoth tended Aqualla. Princess of
Space and Desutoroia kissed passionately.
"The Lord and the Lady will be united
and the light will pour forth and the Shadow of Apocalypse will die." Melkor
said as the Princess faded back to the after life.
Her last words to Desutoroia were, "Remember
my words... Find new love in my absence..." A tear ran down his face but
he was happy now, knowing his wife was happy.
"Come on," he said to everyone. "Let's
go home." Roostville was safe from the Council of Death, for now anyway,
and Mephistophelian was gone. But for how long?
